Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks!

Here’s my relatively small collection of the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks..

IMG_4045 copy

I have reviewed the Urban Decay revolution lipstick in ‘ F-bomb’.. You can find the full review at http://beautylashes19.com/2013/10/05/urban-decay-revolution-in-f-bomb/.. Since then, my love for these have grown and I have included 5 other shades to my collection.. 🙂

These are really creamy and moisturizing.. and I really love the color range & the pigmentation on these.. My favorites include Strip (the perfect nude lipstick for me), Manic (good every day color) and Shame (my favorite for winter)! I have noticed that the lighter shades have a shorter wear time ( 3-4 hours) than the deeper shades which last almost all day.. Certain shades such as Strip & Protest are exclusive to Urban Decay’ website.. All the other 20 shades are available at Sephora.com

MAC Haul..

I figured I haven’t posted recently on most of the products I had purchased prior to my wedding.. So, here’s a MAC collective haul from Oct-Nov 2013..

IMG_2609 copy

IMG_2612 copy

I purchased the MAC Skin refined zone treatment, MAC Oil control lotion, Retro Matte ‘Riri Woo’ lipstick, MAC sheertone blush in ‘Gingerly’ and MAC eyeshadow refill pan in ‘ Soft brown’ off of MAC’s website..

IMG_2014 copy

And in store.. I purchased the pressed pigment in ‘Deeply dashing’, MAC Pearlglide intense eyeliner in ‘Designer Purple’ & MAC eyeshadow refill pans in ‘Fig1’ and ‘Embark’..

Some of these products have become a staple in my makeup/skincare routine.. Full reviews on these shall follow on a later date.. 🙂

Sephora Formula X nail paints..

Well.. It’s Monday again.. darn it.. Nevertheless, I have a review on the Sephora Formula X nail polishes for you..

It all started with just purchasing a couple of these nail paints to try out and it was instant love.. I went back and since have collected 12 colors in different finishes and also bought their set of nail cleanser, base coat and top coat.. When I use the nail paints with the Sephora Formula X nail cleanser, base coat and top coat, it sure does make it last a lot longer – usually I get a wear time of over a week – upto 10-12 days.. with no/minor chipping.. The wear time is shorter (5-7 days) when I use these with my Seche vita base and top coats..

I purchased the Formula X for Sephora The system that retails for $32 USD (value of $44) and includes

– 0.4 oz Nail Cleanser
– 0.4 oz Base Coat
– 0.4 oz Top Coat
– 0.4 oz Nail Color of your choice

Each of the other nail polishes cost $10.50 USD.. which is pricier than most drugstore nail paints but I really feel these are worth it.. All the above swatches were with only a single coat without any base coat & top coat.. You can appreciate the high shine and the intense pigmentation with only one coat of the nail polish.. Also, they offer a lot of options in terms of finish & shade selection (over 200 shades!!).. So, there’s something for everybody… 🙂

Overall, a great polish if you can shell out extra bucks and want a long lasting nail paint with a professional finish..

First Collective Sephora Haul for 2014.. ;-)

Hey Guys, wish you all a Happy Friday! I am not sure about you but Friday sure is my favorite day of the week! 🙂

I celebrated my b’day last weekend with family on the west coast and had a great time.. Will be treating myself to the NARS Narcissist palette on the 1st of February (if I can get my hands on it)! Swatches look great!

Here I have a collective Sephora haul for you guys..

IMG_5771 copy

Sephora had a 20% off select sale items.. So, ofcourse I got sucked in and ended up purchasing the Ole Henriksen Ole La La Look At Her Glow Set and MAKE UP FOR EVER Wild & Chic Palette… I also had a gift card from my dear friend and got myself backups of the Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in ‘Mink’, MAKE UP FOR EVER Travel Instant Brush Cleanser (not pictured) and four of the Dr. Jart+ Pore Medic Pore Clear Masks.. Also, I figured out another Sephora Collection Crystal Nail File wouldn’t hurt.. 😉

IMG_5796 copy

I have also wanted to try the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer for a while now.. Finally purchased it in the shade ‘Ginger’.. Sephora was offering a skincare Sample Bag featuring 12 samples – so why not give it a try? 🙂 and finally Sephora 2014 Make Up For Ever Birthday Set..

For now, I am still playing around with these.. Separate reviews on most of these will appear on a later date.. 🙂

I hope you all enjoy your weekend.. I am going to be snowed in.. 🙁  I am sooo done with this weather!

Real Techniques lash-brow groomer..

IMG_3250 copy
The lash-brow groomer by Real techniques looks quite ordinary and one may not be particularly drawn to buying these initially.. However, it is a really lovely tool especially if you love your mascaras & eyelashes..

IMG_3251 copy
This groomer retails for $5.99 and has two sides- one brush to groom brows and the other metal tooth comb-like part that is used to separate lashes.. The metal teeth are covered with a plastic casing..

IMG_3255 copy
I would buy this tool only for the metal tooth comb simply because it is brilliant to separate lashes.. I have naturally thick and long lashes and this tool is a boon since mascara tends to build up too soon on my lashes.. This comb helps breakdown mascara clumps and gives a cleaner, separated and a more natural look to the lashes..

I also think this would make a good addition for people with short lashes.. Since one would have to build up the lashes with a lot of mascara, this tool would help in removing clumping of lashes and make it look more flattering..

IMG_3258 copy

Overall, a great addition to the Real techniques tools and has not been a disappointment in my collection…

Real Techniques Core collection brush set..

The Real Techniques Core collection brush set is one the best face brush sets offered by Real Techniques.. It comes with 4 synthetic brushes along with a travel friendly ‘panoramic case’ (brush roll & stand).. The Core collection set of brushes retail for $17.99…

IMG_3263 copy  IMG_3268 copy

The Core collection brush set includes the following brushes: (L to R)

  • Contour brush – The tip of the brush makes it excellent for applying cream/powder contour/bronzing product… It can also be used to apply highlighter to the high points of the face..
  • Pointed foundation brush – This brush is recommended for use with liquid foundation.. However, I find it too small for that.. I find it more appropriate to use this brush for applying concealer to large areas of the face such as under the eye (triangle area), around the nose & mouth, applying cream highlighter..
  • Detailer brush – It can be used as a concealer brush or as a brush for applying lipstick.. I predominantly use this brush to apply concealer around my lips after applying lipstick, for applying eye shadows on my lower eyelid and for adding highlight to the inner corners of my eye (tear duct area)..
  • Buffing brush – Recommended for powder/mineral foundation.. However, I absolutely love it for buffing on liquid foundation..It gives the most flattering, blended look no matter how thick the foundation is..

All the brushes are made of soft, synthetic taklon bristles and are 100% cruelty free..

My favorite brushes from this kit are the contour brush & the buffing brush.. I have purchased two of this set just for these brushes! This set is well worth the price..

IMG_3272 copy IMG_3266 copyIMG_3275 copy

Here is what the brush case looks like.. standing upright.. and how the brushes can be kept inside…

The kit comes with this practical travel friendly case that I often use for travel since the Real techniques brush handles can get quite bulky to fit into regular brush rolls.. So, this makes for a good travel companion… But I have never used this case for holding my brushes.. primarily because the elastic on these is so tight that each time I need a brush, I would need one hand to hold down the case and the other to pull the brush out! So, while the tight elastic is a boon for travel, I do not see myself using this case as a stand..

IMG_3278 copyIMG_3280 copy

The brush case on its side to form a brush stand.. just gotta tighten that string to hold it in place..

Again, I have never found any of these brushes to shed while washing.. Overall, I really enjoy these brushes – especially the contour brush which I use on a daily basis.. Great quality brushes.. highly recommend them.. 🙂

Real Techniques setting brush..

A setting brush, especially the one to set under eye concealer has to be really soft and small enough to reach the corners of the eye.. The Real techniques setting brush is perfect for that.. It retails for $7.99 and is available on their website and at Ulta.com..

IMG_3228 copy  IMG_3234 copy

IMG_3233 copy

The setting brush not at all scratchy on the delicate skin under the eye.. Its gentle enough to set the concealer with a setting powder without moving the concealer around.. One may also use this brush to set concealer around the corners of the nose or around the mouth..

I have two of these that I rotate once one of them gets dirty and is being washed.. This brush is made of synthetic fibres, which make them very easy to wash & clean..  I have had these brushes for most of 2013 and have never found them to shed..

IMG_3235 copyIMG_3236 copy

I absolutely adore this brush and it has replaced all other setting brushes in  my collection.. It’ll be a staple in my brush collection or until I find something better for a similar price.. 🙂

Embryolisse Anti-Dark Spot Lightening serum..

IMG_1805 copy

Embryolisse Anti-Dark Spot Lightening serum is an intensive dual action concentrate with anti dark spot actives that exfoliate and lighten the skin, prevent and fade existing accumulations… Fluid, non-greasy texture penetrates quickly and wafts a delicate floral aroma… It is recommended to use morning and evening under face cream all over face, neckline and hands.. especially on pigmented areas… I would typically only apply it to the troublesome areas on my face – this also prolongs the use of the product..

It performs its dual function by –

  1. Exfoliating action: Cell renewal is stimulated by AHA, glycolic acid that comes from sugar cane, and lactic acid from milk and red berries. AHA molecules seep in between dead skin cells of the corneous layer to peel them away and favor their elimination. They stimulate the production of young, hydrated skin cells. Melanin is more evenly distributed and pigment imperfections are diminished for a more evened out complexion.
  2. Lightening action: Exfoliation prepares the skin for absorbing the lightening actives which thus penetrate more thoroughly for optimal effectiveness. The complex has azelaic acid and glycine paired with a white mulberry extract that inhibits tyrosinase, responsible for melanin production. It lightens and illuminates the skin…

IMG_1808 copy

The packaging is very simple and straight forward… The serum comes in a white opaque plastic container with a airless pump.. This prevents the serum from going bad.. The serum is a clear gel with no particular smell and is paraben-free…  It is absorbed easily onto the skin and I don’t feel the need for another moisturizer in the warmer months.. However, as the temps have dropped, I have noticed that I do need my Embryolisse moisturizer to take care of the drier areas of my face..

The serum acts preventative against dark spots and for existing dark spots… It leaves the skin completely moisturized, infinitely soft and smooth, texture is even and tightened, and dark spots are visibly diminished: they fade and decrease in size.. I surely saw a decrease in the pigmentation in my acne scars / spots over a couple of months and found that my skin had a youthful glow to it.. Overall, it is a good product that stands up to its claims..

Louise Young brushes!!!

Happy Friday guys.. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend..

I finally gave in and purchased some much wanted Louise Young (LY) brushes! One of those many things I convinced myself of as a wedding gift to self.. 😉

IMG_4012 copy

LY brushes are not easily accessible in the US, atleast not in stores.. I purchased mine off of nordstrom.com.. Typically, LY brushes are handmade of natural sable hair and the brush handles are made of kiln dried birch or beech.. The brushes feel quite luxurious, are quite light & comfortable to hold..

IMG_4013 copy

So, I purchased four brushes – two eyeliner brushes and two crease/definer brushes..

LY manufactures three of crease brushes in the LY38 series comprising of LY38, LY38A and LY38B.. with each one made slimmer than the prior.. I decide to purchase the largest (LY38) and the slimmest (LY38B) of the series.. These costed $28 and $24 respectively..

IMG_4015 copy

IMG_4020 copy

I did the same for the eyeliner brushes… LY24 series.. purchased LY24 and LY24B.. These costed $20 and $17 respectively..

IMG_4022 copy

IMG_4028 copy

Here’s a comparison of these new LY brushes with my existing brushes in the same category..

IMG_4032 copy IMG_4036 copy

Top to bottom : Sigma E45, LY38 & LY38B

Amongst all the brushes I have for defining the crease of the eye, the Sigma E45 was the closest to LY brushes in terms of shape of the brush.. However, it is in no way the same as LY brushes.. LY brushes are way softer and have a much tapered tip which makes for precise application.. Applying color to the crease and defining it is so much easier with these brushes! It has made my makeup life so much easier.. 😉

I really enjoy these two brushes and definitely used them on my wedding day.. If I had to pick one amongst these two, I would highly recommend LY38.. You won’t be disappointed… LY38B is a great add on for precise color application and detailed crease work..

IMG_4040 copy IMG_4041 copy

Top to bottom : Real techniques fine liner brush, Sigma E10, LY24 & LY24B

So, of course I compared my favorite cream/gel liner brushes.. From the images above, you can appreciate how thin the LY24 and LY24B are.. These come to a fine tip unlike the other two brushes.. LY24 is really comfortable to use and makes for a great addition to my other eyeliner brushes… Something about the lightness of the brush or the cut or angle makes applying eyeliner really easy.. I would reserve LY24B for really detailed eyeliner effects.. and if I had to recommend one amongst these two, I would recommend the LY24..

I have used all the brushes quite a bit in the last two months and have also subjected them to both spot washes and soap water washes.. These haven’t shed yet.. 🙂

Hourglass Ambient lighting palette..

Firstly, wish you all a very happy new year!! I am finally back in the US and what a trip its been! Highs and lows.. Nevertheless, I can now be back to posting regularly.. Here’s my review on the Hourglass Ambient lighting palette..

I am a sucker for products that truly work and this product sure didn’t disappoint me.. The Hourglass Ambient lighting palette is a limited edition palette with three of the Ambient lighting powders.. Of these, two are from the regular line (Dim light & Radiant light) and one shade is exclusive to this palette (Incandescent light)… It’s priced at $58.00 and comes with a 0.16 oz sample of the well-known Hourglass Veil mineral primer.. I think the price is good considering you get to try three shades of this gorgeous finishing powder and a sample of a great face primer..

IMG_3484 copy IMG_3489 copy

These are extremely finely milled, almost invisible powders that are designed to mimic different lighting effect on your skin, without looking powdery.. These powders give a soft focus effect and are perfect for use in weddings & photography- these are meant to withstand even flash photography!

Off of Sephora’s website “utilizes photoluminescent technology to filter out harsh light and refine the appearance of the complexion. The powders deliver a multidimensional luminescence to every skintone, making it appear softer and lit from within.”

IMG_3492 copy IMG_3493 copy

The first shade is Dim light and is by far my favorite amongst the three.. So much so that I have bought a full-size..! It’s a neutral beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights the complexion.. I apply this all over my face and it contains a balance of warm and cool colors that balances out the color in my skin.. almost giving an even, tanned effect.. I absolutely love that and I used this shade in particular for my sister’s and my weddings..

The second shade is the limited edition Incandescent light which is an opalescent pearl powder that is meant to brighten the complexion with a celestial glow… I personally use this shade only as a highlight on certain areas of the face – top of cheek bones, arch of eyebrows, cupid’s bow, bridge of nose, etc…

The final shade is Radiant light – A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth… this makes a good overall bronzer and has slight shimmer flecks to it.. I see getting more use out of this shade in summer..

Here are the swatches: L to R – Dim light, Incandescent light & Radiant light

IMG_4006 copy

Overall, I am in love with these powders and have bought two of the full sized ones.. You should try one to believe it.. It sure makes the skin look more put together with a soft-focus finish and is a great setting powder.. neither matte, neither too shimmery (varies depending on the shade ofcourse).. each shade brings out a different personality in you.. I would highly recommend the shade Dim light in particular for all skin tones (except for very fair/pale skin)..
